History Of Uttaranchal

The history of state Uttaranchal goes back to the early years of the 20th century when political and social awareness started among the people of this region to over come from poverty and backwardness after 1910.
In 1938 Pandit J.L.Nehru said that the people of this region need special rights to taketheir decision under special circumstances of this region.
After 1979 the human movement started when a new political party called "Uttaranchal Kranti Dal"came into existence but it took a new turn in the year 1994 when the than state chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav passed reservation quota bill for the minorities.The movement spread over in the whole Uttaranchal region with in a very short period time and every youth,old aged man ,woman and child took active part in it.

Finally the struggle of the people of this region succeeded when the central govt. passed the bill and Uttaranchal came in to existence on the 9th of Nov. 2000.

Traditions and Crafting of Uttaranchal

Ornaments in UTTARANCHAL
The design of kumaoni and garhwali orniments are basically based on the theme which was thousand years old.The ornaments are generally made of Gold, Silver and sometimes by the Copper.

Wood Carving
Generally done on the wooden doors and windows of the houses, the wood carving is an amazing craft work in uttaranchal. Most of the houses in the village are found in many design and the designing if based on the Different God , Goddess, nature and local things.
Temple Architecture
Flourished by the kings the temple architecture is an amazing work of cearftmenship in the uttaranchal region.Most of the temples are built by the heavy and big stones and they are placed in a very architural manner one abve the other with outh any supports .All the stones of the temples were erected with highly intricate and ornamental carvings .A few example of the temple architecture cannbe seen at KEDARNATH,JAGESHWAR,BAGESHWAR,PANCH KEDATR etc.
Painting
Wall paintings and floor painting is generally known as APPEN in KUMAON and GARHWAL and it's been been one of the oldest traditions of UTTARANCHAL . The floore and all painting is generally made during the occasions sucha s DIPAWALI,HOLI,MAKAR SANKRANTI, MERRAGES etc. when walls and doors of the house are decorated.
